Lower Orange River

The Lower Orange, for mineral collectors generally considered to encompass the area from Springbok to Vioolsdrift westwards, hosts a world class pegmatite belt - Which in earlier years, provided the entire country with Feldspar! Beryl, Phenakite and large, spectacular Quartz specimens are known from the area, as well as the famous Riemvasmaak Fluorites, often coated in a lovely druse of Quartz.

Many exciting rarer finds come from the area - Well crystallized Molybdenite, Corundum and Tantalite to name a few!
